Brazilian denim label, tng, exhibited their 2014 Summer Womens Runway Collection during Fashion Rio at Rio de Janeiro. The catwalk inspiration came from the traditional Indian festivals, specifically Holi or Festival of Colors and Divali or Festival of Lights. The rich mixture of vibrant hues, embellishments and prints engulfed in tng’s signature style made the outfits a quirky fun and sporty streetwear experience.
As with menswear, womens tints and tones explored peach pinks, tangelo oranges, deep seafoam blues and cerise violets. Denim designs and treatments were multi-panel fabric sections with foiled textures, retro acid wash batik effects, artistic paint daubs ink stains and grungy black marble. Details shown were heavy sequin, jewel or stone embellishments and lace embroideries in tulle, silk, foil, flax linen, twill and sheer. Traditional ethnic prints added character. Trendy jeanswear pieces were sleeveless waistcoat vests, dresses, skirts, cutoff shorts, sporty Bermudas, button up hem relaxed tapered capris and a one piece shirtdress. Accessories also included duffel bags, retro sunglasses, streetwear studded caps and hi-top sneakers. From the presentation, we selected only the top looks and our favorite pieces.
